A positive trading day has come to its end

• Top laggard Vanguard Short-Term Corporate Bond ETF gave up 19 cents, or 0.25% yesterday IShares 1-3 Year Treasury Bond ETF (down 0.184%), iShares Trust – iShares iBonds Dec 2021 Term Treasury ETF (down 0.039%) also underperformed yesterday.
• European markets were down yesterday as FTSE slumps to 7,562.36 (down 0.49%).

Before Monday's session: leading equity indices in the US rose as Dow Jones ended the session at 33,877 after a 0.13% gain. Nasdaq closed the day at 13,259, having gained 0.16%.

US markets are currently closed but will resume Monday in around 2 days time. European markets closed lower yesterday. Asia-Pacific markets closed higher yesterday whilst Nikkei jumps to 32,265 (up 1.97%).

3Rd quarter earnings season is mostly over, with NIO Inc. and Canopy Growth Corporation releasing their earnings reports just this week.

On a negative note, the market received some disappointing news as Initial Jobless Claims in United States fell short of market expectations (235,000) with a reading of 261,000, continuing the decline from the previous figure of 233,000.

Today's rise takes place amid mixed market indicators — United States CFTC Crude Oil speculative net positions released yesterday at 20:30 UTC with a figure of 172,400, while the previous figure was 162,600. Fresh CFTC Gold speculative net positions data from United States came out at 175,600.

Yesterday's bullishness contained stragglers as Vanguard Short-Term Corporate Bond ETF closed at $75.48 having dropped 0.25%. IShares 1-3 Year Treasury Bond ETF (down 0.184%), iShares Trust – iShares iBonds Dec 2021 Term Treasury ETF (down 0.039%) also underperformed yesterday.
