A positive trading day has come to its end

• FTSE ascends to 7,870.57 (up 0.5%).

Yesterday's trading session saw to it that leading equity indices in the US rose as Dow Jones gained 0.8% and closed at 34,100. S&P 500 ended the session at 4,169.48 after a 0.83% gain.

US markets are now currently closed and set to reopen Monday; meanwhile, European markets closed higher yesterday whilst FTSE added 0.5% to trade at 7,870.57. Upbeat Asia-Pacific markets ended yesterday higher as Nikkei moves up by 1.4%, reaching 28,856.

Banco de Chile and DraftKings Inc. due to release their earnings reports within the following week.

On a negative note, the market received some disappointing news as Pending Home Sales in United States fell short of market expectations (0.5%) with a reading of -5.2%, continuing the decline from the previous figure of 0.8%. GDP in United States fell short of market expectations (two) with a reading of 1.1, continuing the decline from the previous figure of 2.6.

Today's rise takes place amid mixed market indicators — United States Core PCE Price Index (MoM) (Mar) came out at 0.3, while a consensus of analysts was expecting 0.3.

Elsewhere, United States ISM Manufacturing PMI (Apr) is expected Monday.

While most assets did well yesterday, some did better than others as Vanguard Total International Bond ETF trades at $48.95 having gained 0.8%. Vanguard Mortgage-Backed Securities ETF (up 0.452%) is also performing well.

Yesterday's bullishness contained stragglers as iShares Trust – iShares iBonds Dec 2021 Term Treasury ETF closed at $25.35 having dropped 0.04%.
