GBP/CAD spikes to 1.6742, climbing by 104 pips.
At the same time, United Kingdom Consumer Price Index released today at 06:00 UTC with a figure of 10.1%, while the previous figure was 10.4%. Canada Core Consumer Prices came out at 0.6%, while a consensus of analysts was expecting 0.4%. United Kingdom Claimant Count Change (Mar) came out at 28,200.
Other currencies are also rising as GBP/JPY goes up 0.6% to trade around 167.59. USD/JPY is up 0.47%. USD/CAD added 0.51% to its value, now trading at 1.3457.
Also worthy of note, Canada BoC Senior Deputy Governor Rogers speech is expected tomorrow at 15:30 UTC. Canada BoC Gov Macklem speech is scheduled tomorrow at 15:30 UTC. Canada New Housing Price Index (MoM) will be released tomorrow at 12:30 UTC.
Having set a peak of 1.6807 around 15 days ago, Sterling-Canadian dollar is now trading 1% below this level.
