Trading is currently halted for July 4th but will continue tomorrow. Leading equity indices in the US rose as Nasdaq ended the session at 13,817 after a 0.21% gain. S&P 500 gained 0.12% and closed at 4,455.59.
US traders are set to return to their desks tomorrow. Meanwhile, elsewhere in equities, European markets are dropping as DAX slides down to 16,031 (down 0.31%). Asia-Pacific markets ended a mixed session today whilst Nikkei is currently down 0.98% and trading around 33,423.
Today's rise takes place amid mixed market indicators — United States ISM Manufacturing PMI (Jun) came out at 46, while a consensus of analysts was expecting 47.2. United States ISM Manufacturing Employment (Jun) released yesterday at 14:00 UTC with a figure of 48.1, while the previous figure was 51.4. United States ISM Manufacturing Prices (Jun) released yesterday at 14:00 UTC with a figure of 41.8, while the previous figure was 44.2.
Yesterday's gains have given market bulls further impetus to expect strong macro data going forward, such as United States Crude Oil Inventories is projected to outperform its last figure with -729,000, having previously been at -9.60 million. The figure will be published Thursday.
Also worthy of note, as things stand, upcoming United States Initial Jobless Claims data is projected to fall short of market expectations with newly published data of 245,000, following on from the preceding figure of 239,000. New data is set to be published Thursday.
Furthermore, the market is looking at United States ADP Nonfarm Employment Change (Jun) is expected Thursday.
While most assets did well yesterday, some did better than others as ETFMG Alternative Harvest ETF trades at $3.18 having gained 6.35%.
