Markets are closed due to the Good Friday holiday but will reopen Monday. Looking back over the previous session, leading equity indices in the US rose as Nasdaq gained 0.76% and closed at 12,100. S&P 500 ended the session at 4,105 after a 0.36% gain.
US traders are set to return to their desks Monday. Meanwhile, elsewhere in equities, European markets closed higher Thursday whilst FTSE goes up to 7,741.56 (up 1.03%). Asia-Pacific markets ended a mixed session yesterday whilst KOSPI Composite Index is up by 1.27%, hitting 2,490.41.
Uptick coincides with some positive signs published earlier as United States Unemployment Rate came out at 3.5, better than analyst estimates of 3.6 and improving upon the previous reading of 3.6.
On a negative note, the market received some disappointing news as United States Non Farm Payrolls published yesterday at 12:30 UTC came out at 236,000, falling short of the 239,000 projections and continuing its decline from the previous 326,000 figure. Highly important Initial Jobless Claims data from United States beat analyst expectations of 200,000 with a reading of 228,000.
Thursday's bullishness contained stragglers as ProShares Ultra Bloomberg Natural Gas closed at $3.03 having dropped 11.66%. United States Natural Gas Fund LP (down 5.6%), iShares Trust – iShares iBonds Dec 2021 Term Treasury ETF (down 0.039%) also underperformed Thursday.
IShares Trust – iShares iBonds Dec 2021 Term Treasury ETF has been pretty quiet for the last a month, trading mostly flat and moving by only 0.02 cents on average.
