The Good Friday holiday means US markets are closed up until tomorrow. In the last trading session before Good Friday, leading equity indices in the US rose as Nasdaq gained 0.76% and closed at 12,100. S&P 500 closed the day at 4,105, having gained 0.36%.
US traders are set to return to their desks tomorrow. Meanwhile, elsewhere in equities, European markets closed higher Thursday whilst FTSE climbs to 7,741.56 (up 1.03%). Asia-Pacific markets ended a mixed session Friday whilst KOSPI Composite Index climbs by 1.27%, reaching 2,490.41.
Uptick coincides with some positive signs published earlier as United States Unemployment Rate came out at 3.5, better than analyst estimates of 3.6 and improving upon the previous reading of 3.6.
On a negative note, the market received some disappointing news as United States Non Farm Payrolls published Friday came out at 236,000, falling short of the 239,000 projections and continuing its decline from the previous 326,000 figure.
Today's rise takes place amid mixed market indicators — United States CFTC Crude Oil speculative net positions released Friday with a figure of 226,100, while the previous figure was 181,100.
Elsewhere, United States EIA Short-Term Energy Outlook is scheduled for Tuesday.
Thursday's bullishness contained stragglers as ProShares Ultra Bloomberg Natural Gas closed at $3.03 having dropped 11.66%. United States Natural Gas Fund LP (down 5.6%), iShares Trust – iShares iBonds Dec 2021 Term Treasury ETF (down 0.039%) also underperformed Thursday.
IShares Trust – iShares iBonds Dec 2021 Term Treasury ETF has been pretty quiet for the last a month, trading mostly flat and moving by only 0.02 cents on average.
