The Good Friday holiday means US markets are closed up until Monday. In the last trading session before Good Friday, leading equity indices in the US rose as Nasdaq gained 0.76% and closed at 12,100. S&P 500 closed the day at 4,105, having gained 0.36%.
US traders are set to return to their desks Monday. Meanwhile, elsewhere in equities, upbeat European markets ended yesterday higher as FTSE rises to 7,741.56 (up 1.03%). Asia-Pacific markets ended a mixed session today whilst KOSPI Composite Index improves by 1.27%, reaching 2,490.41.
Uptick coincides with some positive signs published earlier as United States Unemployment Rate came out at 3.5, better than analyst estimates of 3.6 and improving upon the previous reading of 3.6.
On a negative note, the market received some disappointing news as following a previous reading of 326,000, Non Farm Payrolls in United States released today at 12:30 UTC fell short of the 239,000 figure expected by analysts with an actual reading of 236,000. United States Initial Jobless Claims improved upon its previous reading of 246,000 with a new data release of 228,000.
While most assets did well yesterday, some did better than others as BeiGene trades at $238.45 having gained 12.48%. Outbrain (up 5.52%).
Yesterday's bullishness contained stragglers as noticeable risk-on sentiment wasn't enough to prevent Coherent giving up $3.71, or 10.11%, before ending the session at $32.98.

Following 10 days of flat trade, Pointing in a similar direction, yesterday's session was more of the same — pronounced bullish sentiment in the market helped the web recommendation platform to make a notable 5.52% gain yesterday, rising 23 cents and ultimately closing at $4.4. Daily trading volume (111,856 shares) was slightly greater than the current multiday average of 96,258.
