Ahead of today's session: markets completed a mixed session yesterday, as Nasdaq was down 1.07% before closing the session at 12,000. S&P 500 lost 0.25% and ended the session at 4,090.38.
US markets are currently closed but will resume today in around 7 hours time. Asia-Pacific markets are dropping as KOSPI Composite Index is down by 1.32%, reaching 2,462 European markets ended a mixed session yesterday whilst FTSE added 0.37% to trade at 7,663.
This limbo state is reflected by market data published as United States Crude Oil Inventories fell short of the -2.33 million projections, with new data of -3.74 million. United States ISM Non-Manufacturing PMI (Mar) came out at 51.2, while a consensus of analysts was expecting 54.5. United States ADP Nonfarm Employment Change (Mar) released yesterday at 12:15 UTC with a figure of 145,000, while the previous figure was 261,000.
Data to be released today might clear up some of the market fog as United States Non Farm Payrolls expected to decline to 240,000 while its preceding data was 311,000, data will be available tomorrow at 12:30 UTC. United States Initial Jobless Claims projected to come out at 200,000 — worse than previous data of 198,000; data will be released today at 12:30 UTC. United States Unemployment Rate figure is projected at 3.6. It previously stood at 3.6; data will be released tomorrow at 12:30 UTC.
While markets were generally sideways yesterday, these assets pulled ahead as Utilities Select Sector SPDR Fund up 2.59% trading at $69.32. JPMorgan Ultra-Short Income ETF is doing well and gains 0.12%.
With price action largely muted in yesterday's session, several assets struggled to find momentum as iShares Trust – iShares iBonds Dec 2021 Term Treasury ETF lost 0.04% yesterday before closing at $25.35.
