Friday's market activity meant that markets had an interesting day Friday; Dow Jones gained 2.12% and closed at 33,763. S&P 500 closed the day at 4,282.37, having gained 1.45%.
US markets are set to open tomorrow in around 14 hours. In the meantime, upbeat European markets ended Friday higher as FTSE added 1.56% to trade at 7,607.28. Asia-Pacific markets closed higher Friday whilst KOSPI Composite Index improves by 1.25%, reaching 2,601.36.
Aurora Cannabis Inc. & Signature Bank have released their earnings reports; NIO Inc. & The Toro Company will publish their respective reports in due course.
Uptick coincides with some positive signs published earlier as United States Non Farm Payrolls improved upon its previous reading of 294,000 with a new data release of 339,000.
On a negative note, the market received some disappointing news as Average Hourly Earnings in United States fell short of market expectations (0.4%) with a reading of 0.3%, continuing the decline from the previous figure of 0.4%. United States Unemployment Rate published Friday came out at 3.7, falling short of the 3.5 projections and continuing its decline from the previous 3.4 figure.
Elsewhere, United States ISM Non-Manufacturing PMI (May) will be released tomorrow at 14:00 UTC. United States Services PMI figure is projected at 55.1. It previously stood at 55.1; data will be released tomorrow at 13:45 UTC. United States EIA Short-Term Energy Outlook scheduled to come out Tuesday.
Friday's bullishness contained stragglers as Vanguard Mortgage-Backed Securities ETF closed at $45.89 having dropped 0.63%. IShares 1-3 Year Treasury Bond ETF (down 0.282%), iShares Trust – iShares iBonds Dec 2021 Term Treasury ETF (down 0.039%) also underperformed Friday.
IShares Trust – iShares iBonds Dec 2021 Term Treasury ETF has been pretty quiet for the last a month, trading mostly flat and moving by only 0.02 cents on average.
